Innovate & Collaborate: Shaping the Future of Sustainable, Beautiful and Inclusive Campus Living Labs

The event "Innovate & Collaborate: Shaping the Future of Sustainable, Beautiful and Inclusive CampusLiving Labs" held at Jagiellonian University in Krakow is focused on the future of organization of CampusLiving Labs (CLL).

 

It is set to bring together academics, policymakers, local stakeholders and students to discuss the future of development of living labs located in the area of campuses.

The New European Bauhaus initiative, which aims to merge sustainability, aesthetics, and inclusivity in the design andtransformation of living spaces, aligns seamlessly with the concept of CLL. Campus living labs are not only compatible with the NEB initiative but also serve as ideal incubators for its principles and goals. These labsprovide a tangible and practical way to foster sustainability, aesthetics, and inclusivity in the design and transformation of living spaces, while also nurturing the next generation of innovators who will carry these ideals forward.

Event objectives are: connecting Quadruple Helix stakeholders, empowering local communities, andfostering international collaboration. These will be achieved through organization of:

  1. INNOVATE: Open panel discussion with international experts, representatives of campus living labs from different European countries (hybrid).

    In the panel discussion, invited experts and community representatives willshare their perspectives on how the NEB values can be implemented in real-world projects of living labslocated on campuses. Additionally, discussing specific case studies and ongoing initiatives can provide concrete examples of how the NEB can in future influence the design and sustainability landscape ofcampus living labs in Europe. The event will be open for local stakeholders. It will be streamed online. Theresults of the discussion will be included in the future strategy of Jagiellonian University Campus Living Lab.
     
  2. COLLABORATE: Hands-on workshop for local community (on site)

    The workshop explores the social and educational potential of campus green public spaces on theJagiellonian University campus. This workshop, set against the backdrop of the recently created space of the "Green Triangle" and its surroundings, will delve into the co-design of friendly, beautiful and sustainable spaces while emphasizing the importance of nature-based solutions and protection of biodiversity in the context of climate change. The workshop will be a co-creation picnic with:
  • workshop for all age groups, including children, to co-create and co-design future campuses using artbasedtechniques
  • workshop on segregation of waste - building a composter and discussing ecological solutions for urban gardening
  • sowing and planting native plant species
