This is a participatory research and innovation project aimed at mapping the socio-administrative ecosystem of animal welfare support in Poland and co-creating a prototype of a digital tool that enables long-term civic engagement in animal welfare initiatives.
The project addresses the problem of limited opportunities for regular involvement in animal welfare activities among people who, due to lack of time, resources, or knowledge, are unable to participate in traditional volunteering.
It will combine qualitative research methods with a co-creation process. In the first phase, in-depth interviews will be conducted with representatives of a municipally funded animal shelter, a non-governmental organization, and a business actor involved in animal-related CSR activities. This will be followed by a focus group interview with people representing different levels of involvement in animal welfare support, including volunteers, donors, independent activists, and individuals interested in engaging but not yet actively involved. The next stage will involve a co-creation workshop bringing together stakeholders from the public, social, business, and academic sectors. The workshop will focus on collaboratively developing the functional assumptions of a digital tool supporting civic engagement for animal welfare.
Based on the research findings and workshop outcomes, an interactive low-fidelity prototype will be developed and tested during an online testing session with potential end users.
