The core premise of the program is the recognition that lactation (milk production, breastfeeding, and expressing milk) is not merely a matter of private choice, but a fundamental biological and reproductive right, as well as an inalienable human right. As a biological norm, this process requires professional protection and adequate infrastructure to ensure women's full inclusion and belonging within the academic community.
TARGET AUDIENCE
The project is implemented through a dual-track approach, engaging two key stakeholder groups:
- Students, PhD students, and Researchers: We invite you to share your experiences. We aim to understand the perspective of women who combine lactation with studying or research work, as well as those planning motherhood who wish to voice their expectations regarding the academic environment.
- Management and Leadership: Together, we develop communication standards and procedures that enable proactive talent management in a spirit of mutual respect and professionalism.
WHY DOES IT MATTER?
Lactation support is a measurable performance indicator of a modern university:
- Global Prestige: Implementing health and equity initiatives directly enhances the university's standing in international quality rankings. This is a benchmark that distinguishes global leaders in education.
- Retention of Intellectual Capital: A professional approach to women's needs drastically increases the retention rate in research careers and the rate of return to academic activity. We cannot afford to lose our most talented researchers.
- Environmental Evolution: We are transforming the environment so that infrastructure and procedures support human potential rather than acting as barriers to it.
PILOT PROGRAM INITIATIVES
We focus on participation and expert knowledge to assess real needs and capabilities:
- Needs and Capability Mapping: We conduct interviews and surveys to design solutions perfectly tailored to the specific dynamics of our community.
- Training and Workshops: We organize expert-led sessions on lactation communication and modern standards of support in research and workplace environments.
- Building Partnerships: We are establishing a platform for dialogue between academia, business, and the public sector to collaboratively develop best practices.
