Kick-off meeting for the Campus Living Lab flagship project (28.03.2023)

Kick-off meeting for the Campus Living Lab flagship project (28.03.2023)

On 28th March 2023, the kick-off meeting of the flagship project 'Campus Living Lab: Useful Research HUB' will be carried out at Jagiellonian University. The project will be implemented by the Faculty of Management and Social Communication and the Faculty of Geography and Geology of Jagiellonian University. The project's duration is set between 2023 and 2026.

The project's primary objective is to establish a university living lab called CaLiLab and to provide support to researchers willing to incorporate the living lab methodology into their work in collaboration with the university environment.

The kick-off meeting aims to introduce the project's principles and to initiate discussions on the first challenges that CaLiLab will address. In the upcoming months, the first pilot projects will be selected, and activities will be carried out using the living lab methodology.

What are living labs?

The living lab methodology is characterized by innovative and participatory collaborations between research and real-world practice. It serves as a testing and experimenting environment that promotes co-creation and open innovation within the Quadruple Helix Model. This model emphasizes collaboration among society, public authorities, business, and science to develop new solutions.

A university living lab is a specific type of living lab within the context of universities and campuses. It enables students and researchers to tackle societal challenges, engage in external collaborations, strengthen the university's "third mission," and support research-based learning and interdisciplinary educational programs. Leading universities worldwide are actively testing and implementing the living lab concept.
